Each certification includes 10 – 15 lessons and a downloadable workbook.  Enrollees have a full year to complete each certification. 

What is CWDP certification?

CWDP (Certified Workforce Development Professional) is a credential that was developed by the NAWDP (National Association of Workforce Development Professionals).  The CWDP credential was developed to help ensure that anyone serving job seekers or employers was proficient in the following 5 core competencies:
1.     Customer Service Methodology
2.     Diversity in Workforce Development
3.     Labor Market Information and Intelligence
4.     Principles of Communication
5.     Workforce Development Structure, Policies and Programs

About the CWDP

According to the NAWPD:
“NAWDP developed the Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) credential using technically sound research based on the job requirements of a wide range of workforce development roles. The results have been validated by professionals across the nation in a variety of workforce settings as representative of the skills and competencies required for success in the industry.

NAWDP began awarding the CWDP credential in 1999, and continues to review and improve its credentialing process.  The CWDP designation offers recipients a nationally recognized and portable credential accepted as a valuable measurement tool by nearly 8 in 10 of those making hiring, promotion, salary and bonus decisions.

The CWDP designation is valid for three (3) years from the date of award, and credential holders must apply for re-certification prior to the date of expiration. Learn more about the CWDP Requirements and Application process for the CWDP.

As soon as you are certified, you should begin collecting the information you will need for re-certification.

 

How do I get certified? (CWDP Requirements):

All it takes in the right combination of education and recent work experience and we can help!
1. You must have a High School Diploma or GED and have been working full-time as a workforce development professional for 12 out of the last 24 months.  (You may be able to use part-time work to meet the recent work experience requirement as well.)

2.  You will need to show competency knowledge in 5 areas.  By taking our CWDP certification course, meeting this requirement is easy.
Option 1: Complete the approved training course here. CWDP Certification Course
Option 2: Take a 100-question test. Please be aware that this option requires that you score a minimum of 80% on the exam to be eligible to apply for the CWDP credential.

3. You will need a professional affiliation with a workforce association.  Our course explains your options and how to meet this requirement.

4. You will need to demonstrate adherence to a code of professional ethics.  Again, the course will tell you everything you need to know about demonstrating this adherence.

5. Receive your certification and start using your new credentials!  Once you meet the above 4 requirements and submit your application, you are ready to start showing off your talents!
